Desserts

This was an apple pie. Instead of the traditional top crust, Ann cut out the crust with leaf shapes and then colored them. Oh, there are acorns also...mixed in with leaves.

Pecan, apple and pumpkin pie, fudge, italian cream cake and pumpkin cake.

Fried Bird

This was the crew that fried 2 of our turkeys

Peanut oil is lovely stuff! Can't see the bird, but it's in there!

Taking it out.

Done to perfection. Doesn't that make your mouth water, just looking at it?? Very moist inside, but not greasy.

Thanksgiving Decorations

I had fun decorating a cornucopia this year. I didn't get a picture of the finished product but this gives you an idea.

I put this scarecrow and bow on the side of it.

It was plain so I hot glued these flowers and berries on the sides.

This was our center piece. It looked much more elegant and lovely than this picture, but again....I forgot to take pictures. This was a fall leaf garland with gourds and pumpkins in and around it....some stacked. We had many other decorations around.....4 scarecrows that were 5 feet tall and oh-so-cute, little pumpkin people, leaves, an absolutely stunning flower arrangement! Alas, you'll just have to imagine it all for I was too busy to be taking pictures.

Happy late Thanksgiving

The last week I've been away from any 'working' computers, so no blogging. I spent Thanksgiving down at my Dad's house with various family and friends. We fixed 3 turkeys and a ham with all the trimmings....LOTS of food. This year we fried 2 of the turkeys. First time I've ever had it....was quite good and surprisingly not greasy.

We filled our day with games, music, dancing, visiting and eating. About the dancing.......some of the 'older generation' in my family grew up going to dances. I enjoy watching people dance in a waltz or polka, two step, etc......looks so graceful. Anyway, the polka music was on, feet were moving......I got a dance lesson. The conclusion of the matter: I have 2 left feet. There was NOTHING graceful about it!

Hope you all had a wonderful day and had enough tums or stomach comfort to sleep well last night!

Beauty

There really is no way to capture the beauty of a sunset on camera....especially when the camera happens to be flying down the freeway, in a car, at 70mph! But I tried and this is what I ended up with. It was magnificent!

Nutmeg!!!!

This is where she sits. She is VERY VERY spoiled!!!!!!!!

Nutmeg is thriving in her new home! Whenever Gma eats a Schwan's ice cream bar, she eats the chocolate toffee part and Nutmeg gets the ice cream. Gpa feeds her peanut butter.....all she has to do is look at him and he says, "oh do you want some peanut butter" and off they trot to the cupboard, Nutmeg in the lead! They informed me that Nutmeg doesn't beg, she asks. So.....there you have it. She's happy and so are they. She gets called "Honey Bunches" more than by her name. :)

Hat kick

I've been on a hat kick lately. These rolled edge hats are so fun to knit.

This is the hat Gma chose.

Mr. Z trying out one of the hats..bit big on him. :)
