Made it home!!!

We flew out of Kansas City this morning at "O Dark Thirty" and arrived in Portland at 1:00 pm. Big day of travelling but SOOOOOOOOOOOOO very glad to be home!

I will get pictures posted some day.

Even though my Oregon clock is telling me it is 6:17 pm.....it feels like 10!!! My body is still on Kansas time.

Update

Ann's mother passed away last Saturday, one day after the 14th anniversary of her husband's death. The funeral will be this Wednesday, December 24th at 1 pm.

Tomorrow is the last day of shipping before x'mas!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! We are doing the happy dance in these parts!

Not sure when we'll be home. With the weather in Oregon....all the cancellations at other airports.....it will be a few days!!!!

Friday

The end of a busy, cold, snowy, icy, windy week.

Ann's mother is still hanging on. Her breathing has changed. Holding her breath for 50 seconds or longer and then gasping for a breath. Guess that is normal for the process of dying.

No plans to return home yet. Perhaps by the end of the weekend we will know?

Time to go process packages.

Weather reports......

.....are you tired of them yet? This morning it was 5 degrees but with the wind chill it felt like 13 below!!!! Chilly, chilly!

SO, here's the scoop. Ann's mother is dying. She is on hospice comfort care right now. No response or recognition from her. We were supposed to fly home tomorrow morning but because of the circumstances, we changed our tickets. We are here indefinitely.

No worries about me getting bored! Long, busy days at the store! Many, many, many x'mas packages!

Friday

Last day for blogging this week. Weather has warmed up but another storm is forcasted for the weekend and early next week bringing snow, wind and VERY cold temps.

My days at Goin Postal are getting easier though busier.

Blowing......

........and snowing!!! Yesterday was a very cold, blustery day. I love snow. I love to watch it fall and cover the ground. It's beautiful! But I discovered....in Kansas, the snow doesn't just fall....it gets blown EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! The temp got up to 26 yesterday and not much warmer today.

Store is going smoothly. Not too crazy yet, though weather may have something to do with that.

Weekend

I took many pics this weekend but will have to wait until I return home to post them.

One fun event of this last weekend....we went up into the flint hills where Ann's Grandfather was born. Part of the stone house is still standing (have pics for later). It was incredible. Right next to a little creek.....very pretty. I must say though....in summer it would be a snake pit!!!!!

The weather was quite pleasant....bit more windy than Oregon but warm (for these parts). I only had to wear 3 layers of clothes. :)

The store is busy but I'm becoming a bit more familiar with all the procedures.

Warmed up.....

......to freezing today. I'm thankful for all the warm clothes I brought. Layers help!

Have been keeping busy at the store. Next week we expect "busy" to pick up to "crazy"....we are prepared!!! :) Makes our days go by VERY quickly.

We'll be staying out at the farm over the weekend so no internet connection.

Wind

Made it to Kansas!!! Flights went well yesterday and today I'm hanging on tight so I don't end up in Oklahoma!!! This certainly is windy country.......AND cold!

Worked at the Goin' Postal store today. Learned how to process packages on the computer, how to pay bills that customers bring in, and a few other things. Am slow but keep pluggin' along......

So, now it's time to go home, sit in the hot tub, take a bubble bath and go to bed. :)

Kansas

Blogging will be a little slow the next few weeks.....I'm leaving for Kansas tomorrow morning, REALLY early.....more like the middle of the night! Some friends of mine own a 'Goin' Postal' store (packing & shipping....along with various other things) and since the Holiday season is such a busy time....I get to help them out.

Tonight I don't feel very ready to go, though my bag is mostly packed. My carry-on is spread out all over my bed....snacks, puzzles, bible case, camera, pens/pencils, ID, neck pillow, etc........soon to be stowed away in special compartments. And ready or not.....at 2:30am., the alarm will intrude upon my sweet dreams and I WILL get up!
